weight loss week 1

grand total weight loss for week one?...5lbs! Good, but i was hoping for 6 :) I was down a little more but i guess weight fluctuates, so it's no biggie, I don't want to get caught up in the numbers. Plus, I can feel the difference already in the way my clothes fit and my energy level, etc...which is way more important.

A new week = new goals
Starting out strong this Monday morning. I am looking forward to my evening workout as i plan to run/jog this week, instead of walk. It is my goal to amp up my workout every week. For example, next week I may expand my time to 45 minute. The week after, I may add sprints at the end of my run, the next week I may add some light free weights, etc...The idea is to never get comfortable or complacent with my workouts. I need to feel exhausted after each session. Hopefully I can come up with enough things to keep it fun and challenging. I'm sure Josh will have plenty of ideas. I am hoping he can show me how to use the stand-up boxing bag we have in the basement. I would LOVE to get into some kick boxing as well!

Another thing I need to do this week, is add some new recipes/snack ideas in the food rotation. I realize I've been eating either an apple, banana, or string cheese for snacks every time! Please feel free to pass on any ideas to me, I am not very creative in the kitchen these days. I need foods that are quick and easy but healthy. I do not have a lot of time to prep/cook. Maybe if I even try some new/exotic fruits like mango or whatever, instead of blah apples and bananas.

  1. Yeah I totally eat the same things all the time: apples, almonds, yogurt, baby bel cheese, little can of V8 :) Over and over!! I'm definitely in a rut!

But thinking aloud here, cucumbers are good because the water helps you feel full (in addition to hydration!). I also heart mangoes! Many a week have I made my black bean, mango, avocado mixture for dinner! Sometimes with rice, sometimes not. Speaking of, if you ever feel short on energy or fuzzy headed like you can't think straight, definitely check into carbs! Good carbs are our friend!!! I find the healthiest bread I can (no sugars!!) and make PB toast for snacks (alt to the bagel!). I also think that, of all the boxed snicksnacks, Reduced Fat Triscuits are pretty tops! Three ingredients? Awesome! Combined with low fat cottage cheese? MMM. I also put hot sauce in my cottage cheese, but I'm a loon for hot sauce ;)

PS congrats on one week down, five lbs lost!!

  2. cool thanks for the ideas. Speaking of hot sauce...I am crazy for spicy foods right now. I think a spicier flavor helps me eat less??? I am a believer in healthy carbs as well! I don't think I could ever eat like Josh. Black bean ,mango, avacado sounds heavenly! I heart black beans. We are doing alot of spicy curry and spicy asian dinners right now. It's nice that Josh is a good cook and likes to cook! But, for me, when i am alone i am very routine about what i eat and i really don't mine it. But i know i need some variety cause i'll eventually get bored. Oh, and apples, almonds, and yogurt are some of my top foods as well!

  3. Can we trade men for a week?? Hahaha!!! I am SO jealous of you having a Josh. Chris is the epitome of rut eating and he dragged me down with him :\ I used to eat a lot of different kinds of foods but lately we're tacos, pasta, chicken, repeat. I also blame Kohl's (and Canada?) because getting home at 5:15 back in the CK days was a lot different than getting home at 6:30-7 now. I also lived right by Metro Market and could look up recipes during work because, let's face it, CK was a cakewalk. But if I really put my mind to it, gathered recipes and shopped for the food during the weekend, I could get back into it. I loved to cook when I was living on my own...I have to find it again!

  4. yes! i could use a change-up too, haha! Sad thing is, I used to love to cook as well, then i had too many kids, lol. Now i don't have time and luckily josh took over. We were in a really sad and boring chicken rut this past week :/ He will bust out some really awesome recipes and i am greatful for that. I too need to get my cooking mojo back! Like actually making the effort to get stuff together and research recipes. It's just so hard; sometimes i just don't want to do anything...
